Originally from Sterling Heights, Mich., Mike began playing golf at an early age. He attended New Mexico State’s Professional Golf Management Program and graduated in 1995. Shortly after, he became a PGA Class A Professional of the PGA of America.
Mike's golf career has taken him to locations in New Jersey, Florida and Michigan. During this time he was able to study and learn the game from some of America’s greatest teachers, such as Jim McLean, Scott Watkins, Rob Schaal and Mike Adams.
Currently, Mike brings his talent and experience to his home state as the PGA Head Professional of the Monument Course at Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, Mich. He also hosts "Ask the Pro" on Sunday Nights at 9 only on Twitter - a highly interactive conversation with some of the world’s top golf instructors, commentators and players.
Mike is also an exceptional player. During the 2001 PGA Section Championship, he set a course record with a career-best 63 on The Legend. Later that year, Mike tied a course record with a 65 on the Schuss Mountain course at Shanty Creek.
With more than 20 years of teaching experience, Mike believes that every student has different qualities that can bring about success and that there is not a universally correct way to swing the club. While it is important to understand some basic concepts about the swing, Mike believes there are numerous ways to teach those concepts. He embraces the technology of online lessons as a great new way of communicating with students. While he teaches that practice is essential to progress, he also emphasizes that quality practice can be completed in just a few short minutes each day from any location. His ultimate goal is to help players improve in a very relaxed learning environment that helps students learn how to play to strengths and develop in the ability to diagnose and correct their own swing problems.
“Mike’s ability to communicate ideas and put theory into practice is second to none. He is able to diagnose the intricate aspects of the golf swing and relay that information to you in a manner that is comfortable, simple and effective. Through technology, Mike is able to capture the essence of your golf swing, which pays off immediately. Unfortunately for my playing partners, my work with Mike has allowed me to not only enjoy the game but also make a dent in their wallets! Sorry, guys. Simply stated, If you want to become a better golfer, see Mike.”
“Mike’s lessons have been a enormous help, he has immense knowledge and understanding of the golf swing. What I thought was happening with my swing, it wasn’t even close. Mike’s use of video, has been a great tool in getting my swing on the right path. You want to develop your swing, see Mike. ”
