Jason has compiled a career of nearly two decades in the golf industry and has succeeded every step of the way as a swing instructor and coach. In recent years, Jason has garnered acclaim as one of the top teachers in the world. Jason is a leader at the forefront of golf instruction, in 2010, he was named both the Ontario and Canadian PGA Teacher of the Year and in 2011 he was recognized by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the top five prominent teachers in Canada. In 2012 he was added to the elite team of Golf Channel Swing Fix instructors and was also named Canadian Teacher of the Year by Pro Shop Magazine.
Currently, Jason is the Director of Instruction at the Greg Norman designed Wyndance Golf Club, just North of Toronto, Ontario and he also is the owner/director of Jason Helman Golf. Jason's focus has been on teaching for the better part of his career, but he also spent time playing several mini tours, including some Canadian tour events, and he has caddied on the PGA, Nationwide and LPGA tours for several players and some of his respective students. Jason is also a graduate of the Golf Academy of America's Professional Golf Management Program (formerly the San Diego Golf Academy). He’s been featured in some of their television commercials that appear on the Golf Channel and ESPN as well as being appointed to their National Advisory Board.
“As a rule, I do not follow a method or a model. I believe there is more than one way to swing the club. It's important to me that all of my students set some short-term, mid-term and long-term goals so they can establish a path toward success. To learn the game we have to develop a skill set, and if your skill sets improve you become more proficient and your scores will improve. I prefer to coach based on efficient body motion (biomechanics) and focus on attaining the correct or best kinetic sequence the student has the ability to achieve. I teach what's right for the person based on their assessment and their own objectives in the game.”
“Mr. Helman is at the forefront of golf instruction with his coaching programs. You will have a tough time finding anyone on par with him. I’d trust my game, and my kids’ golf, to Jason without hesitation.”
“As a tour player, I have worked with Jason and seen the results he has produced with other players on the tour. Being a successful golf instructor and entrepreneur takes a lot of work and determination. Jason has proven this with the results his players show, and the award for Instructor of the year in Ontario last year was well-deserved. If you want to play better, go see Jason.”
“A one-hour session with Jason helped me take several strokes off my handicap. His teaching techniques are easy to follow and leave a lasting mark.”
