Predict the career major totals for ...

Bubba, Keegan Bradley, Rory, Schwartzel, Kaymer, Louis, and McDowell

These are the 7 young players to win majors since 2010. How many do you think they end up with in their careers? Here are my picks:

    Rory 6
Louis 4 (I think he is legit)
    Schwartzel 3
    Bubba 2
    Kaymer 2
    Bradley 2
    McDowell 1

Good question and interesting picks. I agree with you about McDowell - I'm unconvinced that he's a major player on the world stage, and I'm starting to have doubts about Kaymer, too. Despite the debacle of the past weekend, I still think Rory is the class of those young guys and think he'll win eight or so before it's all said and done. I also like Louis' game and think he'll win another major or two. Bubba's the interesting guy on that list. He could be done or he could win five or six - hard to say. I will say in looking ahead and having had the pleasure of playing there, that I think we'll see veteran win the U.S. Open at Olympic Club in June. Just a hunch ...

    Great thread topic.

I definitely like McIlroy to win the most. I think he could win up to 7. His game seems well suited to many major championship venues. I could see Bubba winning again at Augusta in the future and potentially a British with his great shot making skills. Here are my numbers

    McIlroy 7
    Watson 3
    Louis 3
    Schwartzel 2
    Bradley 2
Kaymer and McDowell stay at 1

Statistically it's maybe more likely that a majority of these guys remain at 1. The multi-major winner club is fairly exclusive. I suppose every generation produces a few though. Of the current aging generation, the multi-winners I can think of right off hand are Tiger, Phil, Vijay, Ernie, Olazabal, Cabrera, Harrington, Goosen. I'm sure I am leaving somebody out.

I'm still not sold on Rory McIlroy. I know he's talented but I'm skeptical about whether or not he'll be able to work at it as hard as he needs to over the next 10-15 years. I just don't see the kind of focus and commitment that Tiger had at the same age. I actually think Keegan Bradley is a guy who's going to win a few more majors. I think he's hungry and will put in the work.

Even though they haven't broken through yet, I expect Watney, Rose, Day, Snedeker, and Mahan to break through and win a major at some point, maybe 2 in some cases.
