Try to make your divots even with the ball

Are you having trouble making consistent contact with the ball? One shot thin, the next fat?

The key to solid contact is hitting down on the ball, which will lead naturally to taking a divot in front of it.

In this swing tip video, Justin Bruton from the Biltmore Golf Course in Miami, demonstrates a very simple but extremely effective drill for learning how to bottom out your swing just in front of the ball. By standing back away from the ball, you'll be able to see how the divot of each swing aligns with the ball.

As Bruton points out, if you find it hard to take a divot, you're likely standing up, failing to maintain your posture.

If your divot begins behind the ball, you're not shifting your weight. The perfect divot will line up with the front of the ball. Do that every time, and you'll begin compressing the ball like a pro.
