Sweep the ball to stop topping your driver
By Kiel Christianson
The topped driver is one of the most embarrassing shot in golf. What happens on the topped shot? The primary flaw is not keeping your right shoulder low enough as you move through the impact zone.
In this swing tip video, Brian Mogg, Director of Instruction at the Waldorf Astoria Golf Academy, shares a tip straight out of the title sequence of The Andy Griffith Show.
Mogg says to imagine skipping a rock on a lake, and to actually toss a golf ball or two using that same motion. In order to skip a stone, your shoulder has to be low throughout the release.
Now, with your driver, keep you back shoulder low through impact, and you'll sweep the driver through the ball, and the tops will stop.
