Relax your grip to release your driver better

Golf is a game of paradoxes. Hit down on the ball to hit it up into the air. Swing easy to hit it farther. Loosen your grip on the club to swing faster.

This last bit of paradoxical advice is important if you are struggling with blocking, pushing or slicing your drives. A tight grip tenses all your muscles and makes it hard to release the clubhead through the hitting zone.

In this swing tip video, Annika Sorenstam demonstrates a drill intended to relax your hands and release the driver.

The drill is a fairly easy one, too: simply lay the index finger of your lower hand over the top of the club.

It's going to feel a little odd at first, but eliminating your death grip will result in much better control with the driver.
