Larkin named MAPGA Teacher of the Year

Erika Larkin, Director of Instruction at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville, Va., and a Golf Channel SwingFix instructor has been named the Middle Atlantic "Teacher of the Year" for 2012.

The award criteria are based on service and expertise in teaching over the last five years.

"Our section has 1,100 members and covers D.C., Maryland and Virginia," says Larkin. "I was nominated by my peers and an awards committee of members and officers voted.

“I found out about the award in November and received the plaque and gave an acceptance speech at our Spring Section Meeting Feb 27 as well as our Hall of Fame banquet March 3, which was a black tie affair held in Richmond, Va."

Larkin is just the second woman to ever win this award in the Middle Atlantic Section, and she is now eligible for the National Award.

It has been a good couple for years for Larkin, who was also named Top Golf Pro by Washingtonian Magazine in 2011.
