Do your eyes deceive you? How to check

How many times have you made a good swing and good contact, only to watch your ball go sailing off to the right (or left, if you’re a lefty)?

What happened, you wonder. Then you check your feet and your divot, and you realize you were set up that direction. How'd that happen?

Your eyes were deceiving you, my friend.

In this video tip, Martin Hall, Director of Instruction at Ibis Golf Academy, shows how your eyes can fool you into thinking you're parallel to the target when in fact you're pointing off to the right.

More importantly, Hall then demonstrates a drill for training your eyes to stop messing up your alignment.

Balance problems? Practice barefoot!

Sam Snead was one of the greatest natural athletes to ever play golf. But even The Slammer got out of whack sometimes. When his timing or balance were off, Snead was known to take off his shoes and play a few holes – or even an entire round – barefoot.

In this video tip, Justin Bruton, Director of Golf at the Biltmore Golf Course in Miami, Florida, explains why losing your golf shoes can benefit your swing. As it turns out, it's awfully hard to overswing when you're barefoot.

So ignore the chuckles from the folks at the practice range. Let your piggies run free and get back to nature during your next practice session. If it was good for Slammin' Sammy's game, it'll certainly be good for yours.

It's not all about the full swing at SwingFix

At SwingFix, our network of elite instructors is definitely available to help you with any needs you might have when it comes to your golf swing.

But that’s not all we do. If you need help with your short game, or more specifically your putting, we can help as well.

Here’s a sample putting lesson from putting guru Garrett Chaussard, who set out to help Randall improve his performance on the greens.

And it worked.

Said Randall: “Thanks Garrett! I played on Saturday and felt like I radically changed my address position on putts to have my hands higher and get the putter shaft running through the forearm. I had one of the best putting rounds I’ve had in a long time. I finished with 28 putts and had no 3-putts. I made a few par-savers of more than five feet, including a 10-footer on hole 18 to finish the round on a really good note. Thanks for the help!”

So if you need help with your putting or your chipping or even sand play, SwingFix has the network of instructors to help you fix every aspect of your game.

What are you waiting for? Start your SwingFix lesson today.
