Get your ball out of steep-faced bunkers

As we gear up for The Open Championship (aka The British Open) next week, many American golfers see the steep-faced bunkers so common in links golf and wonder, "How the heck do you get out of those?"

In this swing tip video, LPGA Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam walks us through the technique that will allow you to escape from even the steepest bunkers.

That is, you can escape if there's enough room between your ball and the bunker face. If not, well, then your only hope might be going backwards.

Sometimes luck plays an awfully big role in links golf.
